Capanna, owned by the Cencioni family since 1957, is located in the Montosoli area, north of Montalcino. This micro-zone is characterized by a land rich in minerals and clay that together with a great temperature excursion between day and night adds freshness and elegance to these wines. Giuseppe Cencioni (founder), assisted by his sons Benito and Franco, was one of the first companies of Brunello. In 1967, Giuseppe also founded the Consorzio del Brunello together with 25 producers.
Today Capanna is still ran by the Cencioni family. Patrizio and Amedeo personally take great care of both vineyards and cellars. Despite the various changes of the DOCG appellation, the Cencioni family from generation to generation has always been preserving the original Brunello recipe. Indeed, Fermentation and long aging (almost 4 years) in Slavonian oak vats and barrels. Bringing to life every year one of the most classic Brunello styles of the area.
