Piombaia was born from the union of the Rossi and Cantini families. In the fifth generation of the Rossi-Cantini family, the brothers Vittorio, Francesco and Cecilia manage the business, choosing from 2008 the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. In a context so in tune with the earth and which follows the cosmic and lunar cycles, the production approach changes; compost produced from courtyard solid fertilizer and plant material as fertilizer, green manure, crop rotations, mechanical pest control, pesticides based on mineral and vegetable substances are used. In the cellar the tanks without controlled temperature, the spontaneous fermentations without the addition of yeasts and sulphites conclude the work of the vineyard. In the south-west area of Montalcino, Piombaia extends over 210 hectares: 70 of arable land, 2 of olive groves, 2 of horticultural and woods and 12 vineyards at a height ranging from 400 to 600 meters above sea level.
