Located in North of Montalcino, the Le Chiuse estate lies on the north-east hillside of Montosoli, at about 300 meters elevation with all-day sun exposure and includes a total of 7ha of vineyards all planted to Sangiovese Grosso with low yields of 55 quintals per ha.
Le Chiuse played a key role in the vineyard holdings of the Biondi-Santi family since the late 18th Century when they used these vineyards for their Riserva bottling. Handed down, generation to generation, to the current owner, Simonetta Valiani is the grand-daughter of Tancredi Biondi-Santi. Simonetta regained full ownership of the property (which she rented to her brother, Franco Biondi-Santi) in the 1990s when she decided to produce her own wine
under the label “Brunello Le Chiuse” with her husband, Nicolò Magnelli and their son, Lorenzo. Together, the family restored the farm-house buildings, the chapel, built a new underground-cellar and planted new vineyards.
