Querce Bettina is a small winery that rises on the south-west hillside of Montalcino. It takes its name from a XIX century legend about an old lady that used to sit in the shadow of an oak to tell magic and mystery tales. Roberto Moretti and Vilma Barenghi discovered the beauty of this abandoned place many years ago. The results of their efforts are a wonderful farm and two hectares and a half of vineyards overlooking the sea, where grow Sangiovese. Here quality is a synonymous of healtiness: the owners care every phase of the production, both in the vineyards and in the cellar, and cooperate with the national association “Wine and health” that carries out studies on the beneficial properties of red wine. The style of Querce Bettina, both of its Rosso di Montalcino and of its Brunello, is deeply traditional. Many prizes and acknowledgments are a proof that Querce Bettina’s production is small in numbers but not in results. Brunello 2006 is a real jewel and the Three Glasses it has gained are a proof that this label is up to the famous names of national and international oenological survey.
