Declaration of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino on seizure of wine bottles falsely labelled as Brunello di Montalcino in Denmark
22/01/2016
With respect to the seizure of wine bottles falsely labeled as Brunello di Montalcino in Denmark, the Chairman of the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino wine, Fabrizio Bindocci ,stressed that: "Once again a great trademark of Made in Italy has been subject to an attempt of counterfeiting. However, the fraud has been thwarted thanks to the excellent work and to the supervision of the Authorities as well as to the efficiency of control procedures implemented by the Consortium together with the producers. The connivance between a restaurateur and his accomplice will never be enough to imitate the excellence and uniqueness of a product such as Brunello di Montalcino, already very well known worldwide.
As always, we will safeguard our trademark everywhere and we will make our expertise available to the investigators. Moreover, on behalf of the whole Consorzio and of the territory of Montalcino I would particularly like to thank the Danish Authorities for their efficiency, promptness and accuracy in carrying out the investigations and for the importance and the resources they have committed to this case."
