BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO
BENVENUTO BRUNELLO STARTS TOMORROW WITH SGARBI, BUFFA AND BARTOLINI
(Montalcino, 20 February 2020). Wine and sports are the main subject of the celebrative tile for the 2019 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino, which this year bears the signature of the President of the Italian National Olympics Committee (CONI), Giovanni Malagò. The Olympic dream, linked to the Milan-Cortina winter games, for a vintage that is a dream, with 5 stars of the precious wine’s harvest. This is the ideal interpretation as bequeathed by a major spokesperson for Italian sports who on Saturday, February 22 will place the 28th ceramic tile on the wall of the town hall in Montalcino (SI) on the occasion of Benvenuto Brunello.
Meanwhile, the much-awaited event – the premier of the 2015 vintage of the prince of Tuscan wine – has been sold out for quite some time. Starting tomorrow there will be a wine prelude reserved for press from all over the world (February 21 and 22). Tastings of a vintage that promises to be epic, pairings with food – the gala dinner will be the work of Enrico Bartolini, with eight Michelin stars. And not only: again tomorrow, at the Teatro degli Astrusi, Vittorio Sgarbi will take the stage with “Un’annata ad opera d’arte” (A Vintage, A Work of Art) at 11:00 a.m., creating parallels between wine, creativity and the genius of Italian culture. Saturday there will also be the debut of Federico Buffa who will narrate wine with the story “Condannato ad essere una star!” (“Doomed to be a Star!”) at Teatro degli Astrusi, 10:30 a.m. Before that, the Leccio d’oro prizes for 2020 will be announced, awarded to restaurants and wine shops, along with the presentation by Denis Pantini of the poll taken by Nomisma Wine Monitor on the position of Brunello in restaurants in London, New York and San Francisco.
Starting Sunday the 23rd, the producers will present the vintage to operators from the sector and the public, in an event organized by the Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino that will run until Monday, February 24th.
