IN NY BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO STARTS AGAIN FROM FINE DINING WITH FINALLY BRUNELLO - BINDOCCI (CONSORZIO BRUNELLO): THE USA AND HORECA, A KEY DUO FOR OUR MARKET

(Montalcino, 19th March 2021). The Finally Brunello events programme starts again. The digital and in-person promotion project put in place by the Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino intends to support, in New York, demand recovery in the restaurant industry, one of the sectors most directly impacted by the lockdowns imposed by the pandemic, both locally and overseas.
After last month’s streaming appointments, we will start again in person on 22nd March with Finally Graduating: Class of ’16, an appointment dedicated to the 2016 Brunello vintage, already brought into the limelight by enthusiastic American wine critics. The event will be held at the New York restaurant Il Gattopardo, winner of the Leccio d’Oro 2021 award. In direct communication with New York – where Silvia Limoncini, Deputy Consul General, and Antonino Laspina, Italian Trade Commissioner in the American market, among others, will attend in person – the story of the appellation by the Chairman of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino, Fabrizio Bindocci. The Italian Ambassador to the United States, Armando Varricchio, will also connect live.

"New York is the most representative American market for Brunello di Montalcino," said the Chairman of the Tuscan Consortium, Fabrizio Bindocci, "and the restaurant industry has historically been the natural channel for the penetration of our wines in the USA. A survey conducted by us in early 2020 with Nomisma Wine Monitor indeed revealed that there are almost 2 thousand Brunello labels in the top 350 restaurants in the Big Apple."

The Finally Brunello programme continues in May with in-person tastings dedicated to New York stakeholders. The tasting events include the one organised by the Wine Media Guild, with the participation of 40 wine press journalists, followed by the tastings guided by the New York University Institute of Culinary Education and the James Beard Foundation, which will also be held in May with 25 participants each. Bottles will also be uncorked live on Instagram with Wanda Mann, Certified Specialist of Wine and wine blogger, founder of Wine With Wanda, who will hold the virtual wine tastings scheduled on 25th March and 1st April.

The promotion project led by the Consortium will come to a close with Brunello Week (from 14th to 20th June), when Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino will star in food pairings and tastings, even by the glass, in more than 30 New York top restaurants. The same week will also feature Rosso di Montalcino as ‘young’ ambassador of the territory in two exclusive clubhouses, Core House and Soho Club. Also in this case, in-person tastings by the glass paired with typical house dishes for about 60 guests (www.finallybrunello.com).
