AN 11-DAY BENVENUTO BRUNELLO IN MONTALCINO FOR STAKEHOLDERS AND WINE LOVERS (19-29 NOVEMBER)
12/11/2021
CONSORTIUM RENEWS FORMULA AND PLACEMENT FOR THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EVENT THAT PIONEERED THE ITALIAN ANTEPRIME
(Montalcino – SI, 12 November 2021). Eleven days of tastings with 119 cellars, for a total of 4000 bottles of wine just waiting to be uncorked. This is ‘Benvenuto Brunello’, the event that pioneered the Italian anteprime which, to celebrate its 30th anniversary, debuts with a new, safe and independent format for autumn. The event, divided into six sessions from 19 to 29 November, with its headquarters at the Chiostro Sant'Agostino in the medieval town, will witness the baptism by Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino of Brunello 2017, Brunello Riserva 2016 and Rosso di Montalcino 2020. Two other wines belonging to the appellation will also be presented: Moscadello and Sant'Antimo.
It will start on 19 and 20 November, with the first weekend dedicated exclusively to the national and international press, which has already been sold out for months. About 90 Italian and foreign journalists have been selected from Great Britain, the United States, Canada, China, Russia and Poland, with Germany, France, Switzerland and Holland representing Europe. The opening of “Benvenuto Brunello” will be more than just tastings, however. In addition to the presentation of the Consortium’s official glass (19 November, 12:00 noon), the central events of the conference scheduled to take place on Saturday 20 November (Teatro degli Astrusi, 11:00 a.m.) are the assessment of this year’s vintage and the Leccio d’Oro Award, also in its thirtieth edition. The afternoon will feature a talk show on ’30 years of Benvenuto Brunello’ and the presentation of the Tile of the 2021 vintage.
Sunday 21 November is the opening date of the appointments for wine lovers and trade professionals, for whom five more days are reserved (from 25 to 29 November, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.; tickets are available online on the Consortium website).
The 30th Benvenuto Brunello also offers space for the assessment of the new vintages by almost 90 sommeliers and Michelin-star restaurateurs, who will be joined by ten Masters of Wine, the experts of the oldest and most authoritative organisation dedicated to the knowledge and sale of wine, based in London (22 November). Among the sessions of the event to present the new vintages of the Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino, there will also be a social session with 50 influencers and wine bloggers (23 November) and one reserved for the producers of finest Tuscan red (24 November).
