MONTALCINO: A HARVEST IN A "TWENTIETH CENTURY STYLE"

22/10/2013

The Consortium and producers expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the grapes harvested

Producers of Brunello di Montalcino expressed their satisfaction with the harvest just ended. This can be seen from the impressions gathered from a representative sample of local companies, both large and small, on the vintage 2013.

They are almost all between "good" and "excellent" ratings on vintage 2013, and both the quality of the vintage is the seasonal pattern are considered "good". There is a difference however in the comments on the amount collected, which have greatly depended on the production areas. Overall, compared to last year, there has been a 10% increase.

After a spring and early summer rainy enough, the months of September and October were good from the meteorological point of view, with lots of sunshine and good ventilation, which favored the proper maturation of the grapes, which have a good balance between alcohol and acidity.

We have witnessed a gradual and late ripening grape harvest, in typical" twentieth-century style "- says President of the Consortium Fabrizio Bindocci - when it began to pick the grapes Sangiovese not before the second half of September. We believe that it was not an easy vintage, however we expect high quality wines, distinctly suited to long aging and characters of extreme elegance and finesse”.

For Lovers Brunello the task of expressing the "verdict" in 5 years when, after aging required by the Regulations, the bottles of Brunello di Montalcino will be on their tables.
