WINE: FROM SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA TO LAS VEGAS, THE LECCIO D’ORO PRIZE GOES TO BRUNELLO EXPERTS IN ITALY AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

(Montalcino - SI, 22 February 2020). From San Quirico d’Orcia (SI) to Bologna, with stops in Las Vegas and Singapore: again this year the Leccio d’Oro, the prize given today at Benvenuto Brunello, travels across the globe to award restaurants and wine shops in Italy and abroad. On the podium, four winners: Adler Spa Thermae Resort (San Quirico d’Orcia), Enoteca Italiana of Bologna, Ferraro’s of Las Vegas, and Praelum in Singapore, to whom the celebratory plaque was given over the course of the 28th annual event organized by the Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino.

With over 100 Brunello labels on hand, Ferraro’s in Las Vegas wins the prize in the foreign restaurant category, matched in the East by the wine shop Praelum in Singapore that thus enters the record book of the Leccio d’Oro.

In the Bel Paese on the other hand, the winners are Enoteca Italiana, the historical club in Bologna, and the restaurant at the Adler Spa Thermae Resort (San Quirico D’Orcia – SI), which in its travertine marble wine cellar holds a broad selection of Brunello.

Another prize winner is Ilio Raffelli, Mayor of Montalcino from 1960 to 1980, honored with the special Leccio d’Oro for his work in tourism and promotion of the local wine, spreading the culture of Brunello. Something new in 2020: the “Rosso di Montalcino” prize that the jury has awarded to Signorvino, a shop that is particularly well supplied with wines from the denomination.
