THE FIRST ITALIAN MASTER OF WINE IS FROM MONTALCINO

BINDOCCI: OURS IS A LAND OF GREAT WINES AND GREAT PERSONALITIES

(Montalcino, Siena - 26th February 2021). “Montalcino not only produces great wines, but also great wine personalities”. This is how the Chairman of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino, Fabrizio Bindocci, commented on the announcement of the first Italian Master of Wine, Gabriele Gorelli, born and raised in Montalcino.

“I think it is no coincidence,” added Bindocci, “that the first Italian to be accepted into the most authoritative and ancient organisation dedicated to the knowledge and trade of wine worldwide comes from a land with vineyards and wineries in its DNA. Today, Gabriele,” concluded Bindocci, “makes us all more proud.”

The new 36-year-old ‘Master of Wine’ is a wine expert, designer and brand builder, born and raised in Montalcino. His biosketch on the Institute of Masters of Wine website reads “Gabriele can trace his wine roots back to his grandfather, the smallest renowned producer of Brunello di Montalcino. In 2004, he founded Brookshaw & Gorelli, a design agency specialising in fine wine visual communication. In 2015, he founded a separate wine sales and marketing consultancy company, KH Wines, with clients ranging from wineries to importers and fine dining restaurants.” Gorelli is the first Italian and the 418th Master of Wine registered with the Institute of Masters of Wine in London, which is since 1955 a full-fledged wine think tank, capable of influencing wine business strategies worldwide.
