(Montalcino - Siena, 6 April 2022). The Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino is preparing for the 54th edition of Vinitaly, scheduled to take place on 10-13 April at Veronafiere, with all the figures on its side: there are 63 estates in the group coordinated by the Consorzio (Hall 9 - Stand B6) attending the event, out of a total of 132 Montalcino-based estates taking part in the international wines and spirits fair.
A number of appointments are on the agenda, starting with OperaWine, the super tasting that is the traditional preview of Vinitaly, to be held on Saturday 9 April at the Ex Gallerie Mercatali. And among the 130 labels selected this year for the occasion by Wine Spectator, 13 are Brunello di Montalcino.
Things continue on Monday 11 April, with “Wines for Peace”, the charity auction organised in favour of Ukrainian refugees by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino in collaboration with the Consorzio del Vino Chianti Classico and Consorzio Tutela Vini Bolgheri e Bolgheri Sassicaia (4 pm - Auditorium Verdi, PalaExpo). The auction has been organised with the technical support of Sotheby's and will be conducted by the director of Sotheby's Italy, Filippo Lotti. It will feature approximately 30 lots of great bottles and great vintages, with proceeds going to the Caritas organisation of the Diocese of Siena-Colle Val d'Elsa-Montalcino to provide accommodation for Ukrainian refugee families. On Tuesday 12 April, the Consorzio will be one of the speakers at “Federdoc and the Consortia. The ‘fourth’ pillar of sustainability”, the conference organised by Federdoc with the participation of the Consortia of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Prosecco, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, Bolgheri and Castel del Monte. Speakers will include the undersecretary of the Italian Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Gian Marco Centinaio (11.00 am - Mipaaf stand). This will be followed by the press conference to present the eleventh edition of the Giulio Gambelli Award, at 12.30 pm at the stand of the Consorzio, in collaboration with ASET (Tuscan Wine and Food Press Association). The award, which honours the best oenologist under the age of 40, will be presented in November in Montalcino during Benvenuto Brunello.
For the entire duration of the event there will be tastings at the stand by appointment.
