13th April 2015 – On occasion of the EXPO2015 the great wines of Tuscany, namely Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti, Chianti Classico, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Morellino di Scansano, will come together to best enhance and promote the territory and its wine-making excellence on an international level. The decision was made at Vinitaly, which is also the organiser of the Wine Pavilion.
The Italian flagship wine brands have chosen to present themselves together so as to have a greater impact on visitors and convey the idea of a winning system that supports Tuscan producers on the world market.
In the “Vino – Taste of Italy” Pavilion, more than 200 wine-making estates will present their products of excellence, and the territories they originate from, to the over 20 million visitors expected during the six months of the great Universal Exhibition.
“The Milan Expo is an international showcase for the products of excellence of each country – affirmed the Chairpersons of the Consortia for the protection of the denominations involved in the project. Italy is now an absolute market leader. The choice to participate in the event together wishes to underscore the desire of the great DOCG wines to act like a system. The choice was also spurred by the need to have a greater critical mass in the global competition. Despite their differences, the great Tuscan wines share stories, people and territories that refer to one region, Tuscany, which is, indeed, a great added value.”
