FABRIZIO BINDOCCI IS CONFIRMED PRESIDENT OF THE CONSORZIO DEL VINO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO · BARTOLOMMEI, TALENTI AND VIGLIERCHIO ARE THE THREE VICE PRESIDENTS

(Montalcino - SI, 7 June 2022). Fabrizio Bindocci is confirmed President of the Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino. Unanimously appointed today by the consortium's new board of directors, Bindocci (Il Poggione) will remain in office for the next three years. Three vice-presidents - Giacomo Bartolommei (Caprili), Riccardo Talenti (Talenti) and Enrico Viglierchio (Banfi) - were also elected during the board meeting.

“The goals of the next term”, says Fabrizio Bindocci, “definitely include the desire to consolidate a brand, that of Brunello, which is becoming increasingly recognised on a global scale. There is plenty of room for improvement. Another intense three-year period awaits us in terms of promotion and the development of the entire quality pyramid expressed by Montalcino. We are convinced that a Consortium that represents over 98% of production can still do much to raise the bar in terms of the value of its productions by refining market targets and promoting Montalcino as the cultural hub of international wine tourism”.

Now in his third term, the second in a row, Fabrizio Bindocci has been managing director of Il Poggione, one of Montalcino’s historic estates, since 1999, having worked there since 1976. Formerly vice president of the Consorzio between 1998 and 2000, during Filippo Fanti’s first presidency, he first held office as president from 2012 to 2016.

The Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino currently has 214 members and defends over 4,300 hectares of vineyard in the municipality of Montalcino (2,100 hectares cultivated with Brunello, in compliance with the limits set in 1997), used for the production of the four territorial DOP wines (Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino, Moscadello and Sant’Antimo).
